Our commitment
This site is built to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We believe everyone should be able to browse and order spirit wear without barriers — whether you use a keyboard, screen reader, or other assistive technology.
Accessibility is designed in from the start, not bolted on at the end. If something doesn't work the way you expect, we want to know.
What that means in practice
- Full keyboard navigation throughout — browse products, select sizes, manage your cart, and complete checkout without a mouse.
- Skip link at the top of every page so keyboard users can jump directly to main content.
- Visible focus indicators on every interactive element — buttons, links, inputs, and size selectors.
- Proper semantic HTML — landmarks, heading hierarchy, lists, and form labels — so screen readers can understand and navigate the page.
- Size buttons include context in their accessible name (e.g. "M for Crystal E Cheer Crewneck") so screen reader users always know what they're selecting.
- Product photo lightbox is a proper dialog with aria-modal, traps focus, and closes on Escape — returning focus to the trigger button.
- Cart item count and total are announced via aria-live so screen reader users hear updates without needing to navigate away.
- Color contrast ratios meet or exceed WCAG AA — body text at 5:1+, large text and UI components at 3:1+.
- All images have descriptive alt text. Decorative elements are hidden from assistive technology with aria-hidden.
- All form inputs are properly labelled with htmlFor/id associations. Required fields are identified both visually and to screen readers.
- Payment method selection uses a fieldset/legend and aria-pressed buttons — no reliance on visual state alone.
- Respects prefers-reduced-motion — animations and transitions are disabled or minimized when you have that preference set in your OS.
- Responsive up to 200% browser zoom without loss of content or functionality.
Testing
- Automated tools: axe DevTools, Lighthouse accessibility audits.
- Keyboard navigation: All functionality verified without a mouse — tab order, focus management, lightbox trap.
- Screen reader: VoiceOver on macOS and iOS. NVDA on Windows.
- User preferences: Dark mode, reduce motion, increased contrast, text zoom to 200%.
Known limitations
- This site has not yet been audited by a third-party accessibility vendor. It has been tested with axe DevTools, Lighthouse, keyboard-only navigation, and VoiceOver. A formal audit is planned.
- Product images sourced from the pre-order organizer — alt text is based on product names and may not describe visual design details like rhinestone placement. We'll improve this over time.
